Program Description

The Advanced Certificate in Performing Arts is an interdisciplinary, flexible certificate program with choices in conservatory-style performance foundations throughout the program and opportunities to apply and refine skills through performance experiences in the final semester. The intensive curriculum combines performance-based immersion in craft and technique and performance-oriented academic studies to prepare students to graduate career- and industry-ready. With flexibility and course choice across disciplines, this program offers students the opportunity to explore the performing arts while developing advanced capacities in core performance techniques and artistic expression.

Program Learning Outcomes

Students completing the AC Performing Arts: Acting for Camera program should be able to:

  • Demonstrate foundational skills in Acting, Camera, Music Theatre, and Dance disciplines.

  • Demonstrate a well-developed level of technical and artistic proficiency in at least one performing arts discipline.

  • Demonstrate professional level audition skills that effectively present craft, artistry, individuality, and authenticity.

  • Demonstrate the ability to apply current entertainment industry practices regarding preparation, communication, and professionalism.

  • Demonstrate an informed perspective of the performing arts that considers social contexts and critical analysis.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of professional production processes.

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, appropriately sourced and critically analyzed information, in a clear and engaging manner.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of physical and psychological wellness.
