Statement on Artificial Intelligence at AMDA

AMDA is committed to incorporating artificial intelligence in responsible and ethical ways that enhance learning, creativity, and performance-based education without replacing the human elements central to the performing arts. Acknowledging ongoing questions around generative AI in artistic practice, AMDA approaches this technology as an evolving part of the future, requiring thoughtful balance and collaboration between art and innovation. AMDA supports the integration of generative AI as a supplementary tool, working with faculty and students to strengthen education while preserving human interaction, artistic expression, individual voice, and the lived experience of performance.

AMDA will support students, faculty, and staff in building foundational AI literacy, including understanding capabilities and limitations, evaluating accuracy and bias, protecting privacy and intellectual property, and practicing appropriate transparency. Those who use AI remain responsible and accountable for the integrity of their work and choices.
